There’s enormous interest all round in #personalbranding for young athletes and in particular how they will maximize the latest on the Name, Image and Likeness front allowing them to capitalize on their own brands and brand activities. What many don’t understand though is that they aren’t brands at all. They may be known but that’s different than being a brand. I’ve used my #BrandBreakdown video learning series to talk about the need for and how to create strategy to help an athlete long term. Today I’ll spend a couple minutes talking #tactics.
I’ll get into this more later this week, but there are 3 main types of athlete personal #brands.
1. SURVIVORS- have the talent and platform but don’t take the opportunity they have generated in their competitive arenas
2. HIDERS- those who want to and typically ignore anything outside of their sport requirements
3. THRIVERS- people who actually leverage their platforms and do the necessary work to like Richard Branson, have a vision and shoot for outer space.
If you want to thrive, you need a well-honed strategy and tactical execution to reach the stars and beyond. Tactics may start with social media and may even extend to Non Fungible Tokens NFT in the #metaverse— but I’m getting ahead of myself.
